A veneer is a very thin, tooth-coloured piece of porcelain (like a false finger nail) that is ‘bonded’ to the face of your own tooth. Based on your needs, we can adjust the shape of your veneers to make your teeth look longer or closer together or better aligned. You can have any number of veneers from just one to hide a single discoloured tooth or a whole set, known as a smile makeover.
We would normally recommend orthodontic treatment as the ideal treatment for crooked teeth but if you do not want to wear braces, veneers may be an option for you.
Porcelain veneers tend to last between 5-10 years at which point they will need to be replaced. Whilst veneers are strongly bonded onto the tooth, there are situations in which they will come off. It is important that you keep the veneer so that your dentist can re-bond it.
