Dental health in young children is becoming more and more important as it prevents problems later in life. It is now recommended that children first see the dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after their first tooth comes in. Our team is reminding all of our patients that cavities in baby teeth can also sometimes affect the development of the permanent teeth and that regular check-ups starting in early childhood can make a difference to your child’s health.
The emphasis at this first dental appointment is that the child meets the dentist and becomes comfortable and friendly with our team of dental professionals in general. It is important that children build a good relationship with their dentist early in life. Our dentists always welcome parents to bring in their children as early as possible so that they can become familiar with our practice and the team.
At the first exam, our dentists will check all of your child’s existing teeth for decay, examine your child’s bite, and look for any potential problems with the gums, jaw, and oral tissues. We will also assess the need for fluoride and use this time to educate parents about oral health care basics for children, dental developmental issues and answer any questions you might have.
We always welcome any new or existing patients to bring in their children to meet one of our friendly dentists here in Woking. Please contact us for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
